Biography
Early Life
Miriam watched over her infant brother Moses among the reeds and wisely offered to find a Hebrew nurse, reuniting him with their mother.
Defining Biblical Moments
After the Red Sea crossing, Miriam led women with tambourine and dance, singing that the LORD had triumphed. Later she and Aaron challenged Moses' authority and she was struck with leprosy for seven days, then healed after Moses interceded.
Strengths
Miriam is portrayed as courageous, musically gifted, and a recognized prophetic voice among the people.
Weaknesses & Lessons
Her challenge to Moses' leadership reveals how jealousy and criticism can undermine unity and bring painful discipline.
Life Lessons for Today
Gifts of leadership and worship are powerful when used to build community; humility guards against the drift into rivalry.
